1 recognised experienced striker (who wasn’t a striker)

So as we wake up on this miserable morning day after the transfer window closed we have just Antonio in the ranks as our attacking force. The man who still isn’t at full pelt because his hamstrings will go at any minute.

Seriously though this will derail our season unless this kid Mipo is smashing it behind the scenes and is seen as the answer.

This could (more likely is) going to undo this great start we’ve had.

Perfect excuse for the dwarfs no to spend the incoming funds though I suppose....

terry-h no doubt we are going to have similar situation like that "Boring " 2007–08 Premier League season under Curbishley where we we were "safe but not able to win a place in Europe.

If the board thinks "..well we'er safe ..no need to spend any more money now" then our season is effectively over.If that the case we might as well shut up shop till the start of the new season if the board want to keep their money in their pockets.

The sad thing is it's not just the striker situation but central midfield as well. Have plenty attacking midfielders but no top replacements for Soucek and Rice and both looked lethargic last night. As much as the young lad up top struggled last night we play with only two real central midfielders anyway so as a last throw of the dice Moyes could have stuck Soucek up there with him and gone more direct and the lad may have fed off Souceks knock downs. Problem is that would have left a centre two of Noble and Rice. Definitely need strikers and central midfielders.

Unless Antonio miraculously stays fit for the remainder of the season, West Ham United FC will inevitably slip down the PL table.
12th is my prediction.

Sullivan Gold and Brady are more fit to run a string of brothels than a respectable football club.

In the 2006/2007 season didn't we have Ashton, Harewood, Carlton Cole, Bobby Zamora and Carlos Tevez? Those were the days.

I can't for the life of me understand why he doesn't give Bowen a run out we just need somebody with a bit of pace that can run the channels and that doesn't fall over whinny player comes within 10 feet of them, he might not be a proper centreforward but he ticks the bare minimum boxes
Yarmalenko is a fucking disaster and doesn't tick ANY of the boxes and sadly from last nights showing neither does that kid
I have to admit I was pretty stunned when Bowen went off at half time last night and that square headed carthorse stayed on

Thinking about a way forward, I wonder whether we're better off playing two up front when Antonio is injured. Playing as a lone striker up front is a lot hard than playing in a pair up front. Antonio can do it, but plenty of good strikers can't.

It's a bit like the left back problem. It was a weak point in our squad, so Moyes had Creswell and Arthur playing together and supporting each other. Something like:

Coufal Dawson Oggy Cresswell Johnson
Soucek Rice
Benrahma (or Lingard)
Bowen Yarmo

I didn't see the Man U game, but apparently we played better in a 5-3-2.

Oh I know but if Moyes finds it this hard to find better than Haller, Antonio or Yarmolenko then doesn’t feel me with confidence when our best player finally decided’s to fuck off.

Well Rice was by accident wasn't he.....I mean as in put in the central midfield from being a centre back because we didn't replace the previous central midfielder......this is a reason alone to want them out it's a n historical failure they cannot fund properly....

The way we handled January and pissing about signing a replacement for Haller. Can’t wait to see how plan when Rice fucks off.

They went for the cheap/non option.

I bet their thinking was to use Lingard as a stop-gap striker if required, which obviously didn't help last night.

That doesn't really matter. Moyes is telling us all we're the next RED BULL. They'd have a list of potential replacements that would be within their grasp for every position on the pitch.

We sell Haller and have no plan at all.

How can he be useless and him leaving derail our season.

He wasn't useless, we played quite a few games with him, he was better than what we had last night.

That's not saying much granted, but he would have been of some use.
